Project Gettysburg Leon has over several decades supported the arts in Nicaragua, which has included support of cross-cultural exchanges between the U.S. and Nicaragua for painters and sculptors, but also support of classes in music, traditional dance and ceramics. In 2021, PGL sponsored a large-scale mural in downtown Leon on a plaza next to the city’s cathedral, which is a UN World Heritage site. In 2022, PGL invited artists from Nicaragua to work on a small-scale mural at The Painted Turtle Farm on the campus of Gettysburg College.
