Program: Revolutionary Murals in Nicaragua
Following the Sandinista Revolution in 1979 and before Chamorro’s presidency ten years later, more than 300 murals about revolutionary history and values were painted by Nicaraguan and international artists with community participation. The majority of these murals were painted in Managua, León, and Esteli. For political purposes, most of these murals have been intentionally destroyed or hidden for reasons similiar to present motivations of our own government.
